Présent is an iPhone app for gift ideas, published by BLOOMWISE SAS, 58 rue de Monceau, CS 48756, 75008 Paris, France, company number (SIREN) 103 497 988. The app asks for no account and no email address, and uses no cookie. It only sends anonymous usage statistics, described below, which you can turn off.

Your answers stay with you

Your quiz answers, the ideas you keep and your list of people (first names, dates, ideas, gifts already given, notes) are stored only on your phone. They are not sent anywhere. You can erase them with "Erase everything", in the settings on the home screen.

Backing up your list creates a file that you keep wherever you like. Présent keeps no copy of it.

Reminders

Date reminders are scheduled by the phone itself, without going through a server. You can turn them off at any time in the iPhone Settings.

Sharing

When you share your selection, the link only contains the identifiers of the ideas you picked. When you share someone's list, the message contains their first name and the ideas you kept for them. Nothing else.

Usage statistics

The app sends BLOOMWISE SAS anonymous usage statistics: when the app is opened, which screens are visited, the ideas you like or dismiss, the merchant links you tap, and the broad lines of your quiz (who it is for, the occasion, the age and budget range).

They contain no name of yours or of the people in your list, no dates, no notes and no email address. We do not store your IP address. A randomly generated identifier, created when you install the app, links these statistics together without making it possible to trace them back to you. They are used to know what is being used and to improve the app, and are kept in a database located in Frankfurt, Germany.

You can turn them off at any time, in the settings on the home screen, under "Usage statistics". The app contains no advertising tool. If you agreed to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may also pass on anonymous, aggregated install and crash statistics to us.

Asking for opinions

If you ask the people around you for their opinion on some ideas, the identifiers of the ideas you picked are sent to our servers to create a voting page. It contains no first name and no name. People who vote need no account and no app: their vote stays anonymous, tied only to a randomly generated identifier in their browser. A vote closes after 30 days.

Links to merchants

When you tap "See where to buy it", you leave the app. The merchant's website then applies its own privacy policy, and may set its own cookies, for instance to know that you came from Présent when the link is an affiliate link. How these links work is explained on the Affiliate links page.
